The LEGO System is the best toy on the planet. You can literally build whatever you want. Let your imagination run wild and you’ll be surprised what you can accomplish. The creator of the LEGO Company once said, “Only the best is good enough.” LEGO Bricks are good enough -they are the best. This guide follows my method for buying and sometimes selling LEGO Blocks. I generally disregard the age on the box because I’m older and can find a use for any part.
ONLINE SHOPPING:
- The Official LEGO Shop Website:
https://shop.lego.com/en-US/
This link takes you straight to the LEGO online shop. I recommend this for those who want the newest sets, or want to find hard to find items like modular buildings. - Amazon.com
https://www.amazon.com/LEGO
I recommend shopping on Amazon.com when looking for sets that are at least 3 months released. Newer sets and retired sets will usually be priced higher by third party sellers. - Bricklink.com
https://www.bricklink.com
This is “the eBay” of new and used LEGO parts. These are “mom & pop” stores that all inventory and sell LEGO parts, sets, minifigures and more in their individual stores. If you are looking for bulk parts or specific items, like a certain minifigures, or specific parts and even retired sets, Bricklink is the place to go. I shop here more than anywhere else. I also have had a store here myself at one time. - eBay.com
ebay.com
If you are looking for a used set, older or retired set, then you should take a look on eBay first. Most of the time you can find great deals. I do not recommend buying individual parts (unless it is clearly a bulk item) because most of the time the listing is overpriced. Stick to Bricklink.com for specific parts.
In Person Shopping
- Craigslist, Facebook, Garage Sales and Etc.
Excellent places to buy LEGO Sets and Parts these are, but be careful. Always check through the items to ensure they are genuine LEGO products and not knock offs. Real LEGO bricks have the word “LEGO” printed on every stud. - Toys R Us (TRU), Walmart & Target (and other shopping centers)
Generally, Toys R Us has the largest selection, so go there first if you want something in particular or something exclusive to TRU. Walmart usually has clearance LEGO sets (something hard to resist). Target sometimes has clearance LEGO sets as well, but they generally have a larger selection than Walmart (depending on where which one you visit). I personally enjoy the shopping experience of TRU more for LEGO products than any other “in person” option.
Trading
Trading parts is a great way to build friendships. If you have a set or part that you are interested in trading, contact me and we can possibly trade!
According to the LEGO Company. It’s not “legos.” The name “LEGO” is an adjetive that describes the type of toy or brick. It means “play well.”
“The word LEGO is a brand name, and is very special to all of us in the LEGO Group Companies. We would sincerely like your help in keeping it special. Please always refer to our products as “LEGO bricks or toys” and not “LEGOS.” By doing so, you will be helping to protect and preserve a brand of which we are very proud, and that stands for quality the world over. Thank you!” -lego.com
